GloryBound Skills Guide: How to Open the Skill Tree and Unlock Your First Skill

Last updated:

Gladiator's Oath is the first skill node in GloryBound. Learn how to reach the Skill tree, spend your first skill point, and open the Gladius, Scutum and Fortuna branches.

In GloryBound, everything on the Skill tree hangs off one core node: Gladiator's Oath. It shows up as "The Oath – Rank 0/1" with the description "Swear the oath to open the three paths." You unlock it by spending 1 skill point through the Unlock 1 point button, confirming with Confirm 1 point, and once it's marked Mastered you gain +1% damage and +1% max health — plus access to the tree's three branches, Gladius, Scutum and Fortuna. Until the oath is sworn, those three paths stay locked.

Quick answer

Unlock the Skill tree's core node Gladiator's Oath by spending 1 skill point: press Unlock 1 point, then Confirm 1 point. The node becomes Mastered and grants +1% damage and +1% max health, opening the three branches Gladius, Scutum and Fortuna.

Why the oath gates the whole tree

The Skill tree isn't a list of freely selectable perks — it's built around the Gladiator's Oath core node. While it sits at Rank 0/1, the tree's branches aren't available to you at all. The oath's own description tells you exactly what it does: swearing it "opens the three paths." In other words, this single point is your key to the rest of the tree, and its +1% damage and +1% max health effect is the bonus you get on top of that access.

That structure makes the oath the natural first skill for every player. You don't choose between branches until after the oath is Mastered — the unlock is the same whether you plan to fight up close or from range.

Unlocking Gladiator's Oath, step by step

The unlock is a two-button confirmation, demonstrated in-game:

  1. Open the Skill tree screen.
  2. Find the core node Gladiator's Oath, shown as "The Oath – Rank 0/1".
  3. Press Unlock 1 point.
  4. Press Confirm 1 point — after Confirm 1 point, the node flips to Mastered.
  5. The node flips to Mastered, showing its effect: +1% damage, +1% max health.

Press Unlock 1 point, then Confirm 1 point — after Confirm 1 point, the node flips to Mastered. Once you see "Mastered" on the oath node, the three branches are open. The recorded run performs the whole two-button unlock:

The three branches: Gladius, Scutum and Fortuna

After the oath, the Skill tree opens into three named paths:

  • Gladius
  • Scutum
  • Fortuna

Treat swearing the oath as step one of the tree and choosing between these branches as step two — the oath unlock is identical for everyone.

How skills fit into your broader progression

Skills are one of GloryBound's unlockable progression rewards, sitting alongside armor sets and other bonuses that let you shape a build around your play style. Unlocking them comes mid-way through the game's arc: you gather weapons and armor first, then put points into skills and sets that fit how you want to fight.

They're also funded by your in-game cash — unlocking skills and armor sets is exactly the kind of spending the game's economy is built around. Working codes are a straightforward way to top that up, since their boosts help you earn faster upgrades, better loot, and the cash that pays for skill unlocks. If you're still working through the early game, the beginner guide covers the first steps, and the progression guide maps where skills sit in the full route to legendary status.

Quick recap

  • The Skill tree's core node is Gladiator's Oath ("The Oath – Rank 0/1").
  • It costs 1 skill point: Unlock 1 point, then Confirm 1 point.
  • Once Mastered, it grants +1% damage and +1% max health.
  • Swearing the oath unlocks the three branches: Gladius, Scutum and Fortuna.
  • Skills are a mid-progression unlock funded by cash — codes help you earn it faster.
